A classic Italian dish that is always a crowd pleaser is Meat Lasagna. It takes a bit of effort but well worth the delicious and decadent end result that is full of flavor! Ingredients:
1/8 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. dried oregano 1 tsp. garlic powder 1 tsp. onion powder 1 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. dried oregano 1 tsp. dried parsley 1 tsp. garlic powder 1 raw egg (keeps mixture creamy and spreadable)
Cook your sauce ahead of time or have your jared sauce ready to go. In a hot skillet with a little bit of olive oil add your sirloin and spices listed above. Then with a flat edged spatula keep chopping until cooked and in small pieces. In a large pot of boiled well salted water add your lasagna noodles and cook for half the time it says on box. The rest will cook when baked. Then carefully take out of water so as not to tear noodles and lay on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil so they remain moist. In a small bowl mix your Ricotta cheese with all the spices listed above and set aside. Grate you mozzarella cheese on the the largest opening of the box grater and set aside. Now start assembling! First put a layer of sauce, then layer 3 of the lasagna noodles over that. Next add a layer of the seasoned ricotta cheese, then a layer of the sirloin meat and a layer of mozzarella cheese and repeat all the layers again beginning with sauce for a total of 4 layers. After all the layers are completed finish with sauce and then layer your rounds of mozzarella and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Take a sheet of foil to cover the dish and spray the opposite side with non stick so it won't stick to the cheese as it cooks. Bake for 20 minutes on 400 degrees. Then remove the foil and place under the broiler for 5-10 minutes more to let the mozzarella cheese brown. keep a close eye on this part because you do not want to burn the cheese! When done, let it sit out to cool for about 15 minutes to tighten up. If you cut it too soon it will not stay together as well. The longer it sits the better! HINT: Make this the day before and refrigerate. Cutting slices will be much easier and neater!
